Aka Frye’s, Old Mill Inn

John Updegraff built the first mill here as early as 1783. Henry Hoffman built the current structure in 1816. The mill went through several changes of ownership until John Meisenhelter purchased it in 1897. He put his name on a plate on the front of the mill and it became generally known by that name.
The property changed ownership several more times until John H. Frye bought the mill in 1915. Frye was the last to operate the mill with operations ending in 1922. In 1925, Frye converted the mill into a hotel and tavern called “The Old Mill Inn”. The Inn operated into the 1950s and then was converted to apartments. Today the old mill houses an auto repair shop.
